Paul Cashmere sits down with Murray Cook (founding guitarist of The Wiggles) and Lizzie Mack to talk about their reimagined band Murray And The Movers, the artists formerly known as The Soul Movers.

The pair explain why they decided to drop the “Soul” from their name, saying it no longer fit their sound or spirit. As Lizzie puts it, “We’re soul-infused, but we’re rock, pop and garage too.” Murray adds that with “soul burgers” and “soul cover bands” everywhere, it was time to stand apart.

They also reveal the creative journey behind their latest single I’m With You, which made an impromptu debut during their Rocktober residency at Sydney’s Metro. Fans who were there got a sneak peek when the song was blasted through the house system while the duo filmed Murray’s guitar solo for the upcoming video – and the crowd danced like it was live.

Recorded with a mix of vintage guitars and fresh energy, I’m With You is the first taste of what’s to come from the renamed project. The duo confirm a run of live shows to celebrate the release – including Cherry Bar, Melbourne (6 December) and Metro Social, Sydney (28 November) with more to follow in 2025.
