Melbourne bluegrass band PepperCreek Revival return to Noise11 to discuss their second album It’s All Been Said.

In this in-depth Q&A, Paul Cashmere speaks with Kelly Auty and Barry Hill about the organic writing process behind the new record, which began taking shape just months after their debut was released. The band explain how there was no pressure to rush a follow-up – the songs simply kept coming.

Kelly discusses her love of narrative songwriting and how studying literature informs her lyrics, from the reflective themes of Backward Glance to the parental perspective behind Fly High If You Fall. Barry reveals that the title track It’s All Been Said was written last, yet became the song that tied the entire album together.

The conversation also explores the realities of touring, the myth of backstage partying, and the importance of preserving your voice on the road. Tracks including Doing It Right, Dance On, You Can’t Stop Love and So Long are unpacked, with insight into the emotional shifts across the record.
Mandolin textures and bluegrass influences are central to the album’s sound, with nods to progressive acts like Punch Brothers and leading players such as Sierra Hull.

All ten tracks were recorded to translate seamlessly to the live stage, many captured in first or second takes.

It’s All Been Said is available for pre-order now, with preview tracks streaming online.
