k.d. lang will make her Broadway debut on February 11 in the show After Midnight.

Midnight, which celebrates the music of Duke Ellington during his time at the Cotton Club, actually begins previews on October 18 and opens on November 3 at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre with American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino in the main roll which lang will take over. Dule Hill of TV’s Pscyh also stars. Providing the music for the show is the Jazz at Lincoln Center All-Stars.

After Midnight had a pre-Broadway run last year at New York City Center under the title Cotton Club Parade.

lang is one of music’s most versatile singers, starting her career in country, branching into rock and pop and diverting to jazz including an album with Tony Bennett. She has previous experience as an actress including the 1991 film Salmonberries and 1999’s Eye of the Beholder.
