Larry Hagman Had Filmed Six More Dallas Episodes

The death of television legend Larry Hagman has come midway through the filming of the next season of Dallas.

Hagman had completed the filming of six episodes of season two of the show with the cast of Dallas when he died on Friday.

15 episodes of the second season were planned but the production had taken a break for Thanksgiving and was due to resume next week.

During season four of the original show Jim Davis, who played J.R.’s father Jock Ewing died from cancer. He was referred to in the 13 episodes of the season following his death and then with season five resumed the story began with him being killed in a helicopter accident.

The writers of the new series will now need to explain the absence of J.R. for the next 9 episodes of season two.

Hagman, who played the evil businessman J. R. Ewing in the super soap, died from cancer at Medical City Dallas Hospital on Friday. He was 81.
