Carly Rae Jepsen Has A Meltdown For Her 30th

Singer Carly Rae Jepsen had a total meltdown on her 30th birthday which involved her crying and sleeping most of the day.

The Canadian star celebrated her special birthday on November 21 (15) and in the run-up to it she remained completely calm and couldn’t understand why people kept asking how she felt about entering a new decade. However, when the date hit it was a completely different story.

“It was (a big benchmark) in a lot of other people’s eyes, which was bringing me sort of pause and nerves because every person in interviews would be like, ‘The big 3-0,’ almost like it was some cold I was about to catch,” she told Toronto Sun. “I didn’t actually let it get to me until my actual birthday. And on my actual birthday I totally had a meltdown. It wasn’t so much because, ‘I’m 30! Oh my God!’ It was I was so sleep deprived coming back from (a work trip in) Japan. I think my boyfriend finally woke me up at 4pm and brought in some meal and I just started crying like, ‘I’m too tired to eat!’ He was like, ‘OK, maybe you should go back to sleep.’ And then I’ll figure we’ll do like a proper B-Day dinner celebration when I’m back in LA.”

Hitting 30 often encourages people to make big life decisions, but Carly hasn’t fallen foul of that. She remained tight-tipped on whether she’ll have kids in the future, simply revealing she “absolutely” thinks about motherhood but isn’t in a rush.

Carly is dating cinematographer and director David Kalani Larkins and the couple have worked together on several occasions, including the video for her track Run Away With Me. It features footage David recorded of Carly while they globe-trotted together, and has scored over 12 million views on YouTube.

Speaking to Billboard in August (15), the brunette beauty explained how her beau has made such an impact on her life. “I usually keep my cards close,” she noted. “He helped me show this more authentic side he gets to see. I never really felt free until I met him.”
