Conor Oberst, sometimes known as frontman for Bright Eyes, at other times under his own name, will release his seventh solo album ‘Ruminations’ in October.

Oberst recorded ‘Ruminations’ over the Christmas New Year period of 2015 / 2016 at ARC Studios in Omaha, Nebraska.

I wasn’t expecting to write a record,” he said. “I honestly wasn’t expecting to do much of anything. Winter in Omaha can have a paralyzing effect on a person but in this case it worked in my favor. I was just staying up late every night playing piano and watching the snow pile up outside the window. Next thing I knew I had burned through all the firewood in the garage and had more than enough songs for a record. I recorded them quick to get them down but then it just felt right to leave them alone”.

Bright Eyes has been inactive since 2011. ‘Ruminations’ will be the third album since Bright Eyes ceased to exist. Oberst has also since released new music with Desaparecidos (Payola, 2015) as well as the two albums ‘One of My Kind’ (2012) and ‘Upside Down Mountain (2014) under his own name.

‘Ruminations’ will be released through Nonesuch on 14 October 2014.
