Jimmy Barnes Becomes Storyteller For Working Class Boy Tour

by Paul Cashmere on September 11, 2016

in News

Jimmy Barnes is about to embark on a tour with a difference. ‘The Working Class Boy’ tour is designed as “an evening of stories and songs’.

Jimmy’s book ‘Working Class Boy’ will be released through Harper Collins on 19 September 2016. The book “is the story of how James Swan became Jimmy Barnes. It is a memoir burning with the frustration and frenetic energy of teenage sex, drugs, violence and ambition for more than what you have”.

“Just like the book, this live show will tell the story of an imperfect childhood that has led to me becoming an imperfect adult”, explains Jimmy. “I spent most of my life running from my childhood and now it seems like my time to face it. So this is the story of a lifetime spent running away. Running from fear. Running from shame but at the same time running from hope. I’m not running anymore”

Jimmy wrote the book to tell for the first time the story of a poor Scottish family who left their homeland for Australia in the 1950s. The book is part one of Jimmy’s life, about his childhood up the age of 18 and the formation of Cold Chisel.
