in Live,News

Kenny Rogers previously announced that he was embarking on his final major tour earlier in the year.

Tonight, at the Shooting Star Casino in Mahnomen, WI, he opens the trek that currently numbers 42 shows with more possibly being announced in the future.

Rogers said “I’m excited about making one more sweep around the world. For more than five decades, I’ve been fortunate enough to have such wonderful, loyal audiences, and their support has meant so much. This final tour is going to be a celebration of all of my music, and I know each night will be truly special.”

Rogers’ recorded his first single in 1958 before becoming a member of the Bobby Doyle Three and, later, the New Christie Minstrels. In 1967, he formed the First Edition with three other former minstrels, scoring five top twenty singles in the U.S. between that year and 1970. In 1975, he went solo gaining fifteen more top twenty pop hits and 34 that did the same on the Country Singles.

Kenny is expected to touch on most of his hits during the show along with a number of songs he hasn’t sung in many years. The program will also include rare photos and films from throughout his career.
