Kings of Leon will play their ninth Australian tour in February and March 2027, pairing outdoor dates in Auckland, Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne with special guests Ocean Alley. The run follows the November 6 release of the band’s tenth studio album, O My Beloved.
Ocean Alley’s inclusion as support carries clear local weight. The Northern Beaches group has built a substantial Australian following through consistent albums and a live reputation that sits comfortably alongside the visiting headliners. Their presence gives the bill a cross-generational Australian rock continuity that few international packages match.
Kings of Leon formed in Mount Juliet, Tennessee, in 1999 around brothers Caleb, Nathan and Jared Followill and their cousin Matthew. Early records mixed Southern rock and garage energy. Youth & Young Manhood and Aha Shake Heartbreak established them in the UK and Europe before Because of the Times and Only by the Night expanded the audience. The latter became the best-selling album of 2008 in Australia and delivered the band its commercial peak, driven by Sex on Fire and Use Somebody. Those singles still dominate set lists more than fifteen years later.
The group has returned to Australia regularly since the Only by the Night breakthrough. This 2027 itinerary marks the ninth visit. Previous trips have taken in arenas, outdoor venues and festival stages. The new dates lean toward open-air sites capable of holding larger crowds, a practical choice given the demand that has accompanied every Australian stop since the late 2000s.
O My Beloved arrives as the band’s first full album since 2024’s Can We Please Have Fun. That record marked a shift to LoveTap Records and Capitol. The new collection arrives less than three years later, suggesting a period of steady writing rather than the longer gaps that once separated Kings of Leon albums. How the fresh material sits alongside the established hits will shape the 2027 shows. Early indications point to a set that balances the familiar with the new rather than a pure greatest-hits approach.
The 2027 tour arrives at a point when Kings of Leon can still draw substantial crowds without relying solely on nostalgia. The new album provides a current reason to attend. Ocean Alley’s presence adds a local dimension that should broaden the audience beyond the core Followill following. For Australian fans who have followed the band across nearly two decades of visits, the dates represent another chapter rather than a farewell.
