Mumford & Sons have had about $10,000 in gear stolen after thieves made off with equipment from backstage at their first Australian gig in Perth.

The band’s in-ear monitors were taken as well as various other items but the equipment is useless as it is customised to the various band members.

In a Facebook post the band wrote, “Thanks to everyone who came to the show last night, we’re very happy to have kicked off this tour! Unfortunately, someone broke into our backstage and stole some pretty important things. Crucially – our monitoring devices so we can hear ourselves on stage. We’re not going to get the police involved, and we understand it might have seemed like a good idea at the time, but the things are worthless to anyone else but us. If anyone wants to come forward or has any information please send a message to: mumford_tour_assist@wpl-music.com. Peace!”

Mumford and Sons played Friday and Saturday in Perth.

Remaining dates on the Australian tour are:

October 15, Adelaide, Entertainment Centre
October 17, Brisbane, Riverstage
October 18, Sydney, Entertainment Centre
October 23, Hobart, Derwent Entertainment Centre
October 25, Melbourne, Rod Laver Arena
October 26, Canberra, Royal Theatre
