Nils Lofgren Working On 10 Disc Retrospective

by Roger Wink, VVN Music on August 6, 2013

Nils Lofgren is putting together his biggest a career retrospective to date.

In a new note to his fans on his site, Lofgren says that the set should be ten discs (9-CDs, 1-DVD) of his work, outtakes, demos, etc.

…we’ve been working towards a 45 year retrospective box set of all my recordings going back to Grin and up through present with Fantasy Records. It’s a massive project that we hope will be available next year at some point.

It’s shaping up to be a 10 disc project. 7 CD’s of highlights of all released recordings from Grin through latest Old School release. Two CD’s of bonus tracks, downloads, great demos and unreleased music through the years. And one DVD featuring live performances.

Amy’s [Lofgren’s wife] assisting in the artwork and layout as we accumulate old photos, artwork, etc., and my dear friend and writer extraordinaire Dave Marsh is working on the liner notes and history with me. Our good friend Steve Smolen is lending us some great posters, tickets, records, paraphernalia, advice, etc. toward the packaging as well. What a project! Hard to believe it could actually happen as so much of my old music is out of print, but Fantasy seems confident they’ll make it all work.

There is no word currently on a projected release date.
