Prince ‘The Very Best of Prince’ and ‘Purple Rain’ will take out the top two spots on the US album chart this week.

Since the death of Prince last Thursday he has had over 3.5 million purchases of his music including albums and single songs.

Unlike Bowie, Prince did not allow his music on YouTube so the only way fans can hear it if they didn’t own it was to buy it and that they have.

Had Prince not died last week, the top two albums would have been Sturgill Simpson’s ‘A Sailor’s Guide To Earth’ and Santana’s ‘Santana IV’.

‘The Very Best of Prince’ sold 95,825 copies this week, ‘Purple Rain’ sold 55,315.

Other Prince albums in the US Top 50 chart are ‘The Hits/The B Sides’ with 21,698 sales, ‘1999’ with 12,231 sales, ‘Ultimate Prince’ with 7,613 sales and ‘Sign O The Times’ with 5,719 sales.

Prince songs in the US singles Top 40 chart are ‘Purple Rain’. ‘Little Red Corvette’, ‘When Doves Cry’, ‘Kiss’, ‘Lets Go Crazy’, ‘Raspberry Beret’, ‘1999’, ‘I Would Die 4U’, ‘Darling Nikki’ and ‘I Wanna Be Your Lover’.
