Silverstein frontman Shane Told joins Paul Cashmere of Noise11 for an in-depth conversation about 25 years of Silverstein, two new albums and the band’s return to Australia in 2027 with Story Of The Year.
Marking their 25th anniversary, Silverstein have released two albums, Antibloom and Pink Moon, after initially setting out to narrow 25 songs down to a single record. Shane explains why the band chose to split the material into two releases, how the sequencing was decided and why having two great opening tracks and two closing tracks ultimately helped determine the format.
Shane also discusses the challenge of building a live setlist from a catalogue spanning more than two decades. With songs including “Smile In Your Sleep”, “My Heroine”, “Smashed Into Pieces” and “Bleeds No More” remaining important to audiences, the band must find room for new material while respecting the songs that first brought fans to Silverstein.
The conversation explores the continuing appeal of Discovering The Waterfront, the possibility of another full-album performance of When Broken Is Easily Fixed for its 25th anniversary, and the surprising number of younger fans now discovering the band’s music through their parents.
Shane looks ahead to Silverstein’s 14th Australian tour in 2027, a co-headline run with Story Of The Year. He also reveals plans for more elaborate production and visuals, discusses how the setlist might change from the 2025 Australian shows and considers the possibility of performing an Australian artist’s song in each city.
From the early days of emo music to a career that has crossed generations, this is Shane Told reflecting on Silverstein’s past, present and future.
