Quincy Jones was rushed to a hospital in Los Angeles on Thursday after suffering what was called “severe” chest pains.

TMZ is reporting that the famed producer and performer, 82, was at his home in Bel-Air when he became ill. Reps later downplayed the incident on the site, telling them that “Quincy had some shortness of breath and in an abundance of caution he went in for observation. He is fine.”

Jones is a legendary figure in the music of the last fifty years. Early in his career, he toured with the likes of Lionel Hampton and Dizzy Gillespie and, in the early-60’s, became a record producer including a multi-hit relationship working with Leslie Gore. Later in that decade and through the 70’s, he worked extensively as a film composer before returning to production for Michael Jackson (Off the Wall, Thriller, Bad), Frank Sinatra (Sinatra at the Sands, L.A. is My Lady), Aretha Franklin, Rufus Featuring Chaka Khan, Donna Summer and many more. He was elected to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013.
