Soundwave is officially over. There will be no 2016 event.

Promoter AJ Maddah has announced that Soundwave 2016 will not go ahead but in a bizarre Twitter rant blamed the failure on “internet trolls”, not his own bad business decisions. “Great triumph for the internet hate squad and the trolls. Congratulations guys. Only thing is, you are now fast running out of targets.” He posted late Thursday afternoon.

The business of Soundwave was riddled with debt following years of failed enterprises including the take-over of Big Day Out and failure of the boutique Harvest Festival.

“I am devastated to have to announce the cancellation of Soundwave 16 due to poor ticket sales. I am very sorry. I tried my best. Big Day Out and the boutique Harvest Festival that failed to find an audience,” he posted.

“Thank you to all the fans, bands and people who supported the event for the last 12 years. i wish we could have ended it on a better note,” he wrote..

Earlier this month Soundwave was seriously in doubt. AJ then announced that 2016 would be the last year for the festival.

Refunds should be available from the online ticketing agency and wherever tickets were purchased.
