Ford has chosen John Farnham to sell its new SYNC technology but the advertising industry is torn between “brilliant” and “horrid”.

Ford is selling its new voice activated technology to a 30something audience by using John Farnham singing ‘You’re The Voice’.

Farnham, you would think, would appeal these days to mainly to a 50something demographic but if you go to one of his shows you will know the audience is mainly 30something women.

Radio doesn’t get John Farnham. They run when a new John Farnham record arrives. He is considered too daggy to play on the air these days. The only ad agency that appears to understand the demographic is JWT Melbourne. They are the agency behind the new Ford ad. So did they get it right? Did they read the audience? Did they create an ad that resonates to the right demographic?

Noise11 would love to know what you think. Watch the video below. First, two warnings. 1. It is an ad so don’t watch it if you don’t want to see an ad. 2. It does feature John Farnham.
