Triple J has written a cheque for $19,477.83 for the Red Cross from proceeds from their ‘Christmas Number 1’.

‘Christmas Number 1’ was a project from The Doctor, Lindsay McDougall with the all-star choir featuring Phil Jamieson from Grinspoon, Elizabeth Rose, Thomas Rawle from Papa vs Pretty, Bertie Blackman, Tuka and Jeswon from Thundamentals, Joyride, Abbe May, Andy Bull, Laurence Pike from PVT, Touch Sensitive, Bree Tranter, Asta, Calum, James and Bryce from Lunatics on Pogo Sticks, B1 & B2 from Bananas in Pyjamas, Dr Karl and triple j presenters Tom & Alex, Zan Rowe, Linda Marigliano, Nina Las Vegas, Dom Alessio and Tom Tilley,.

In a statement The Doctor said, “From a little idea, a flurry of phone calls and one crazy studio day, we managed to not only get to the top of the charts, but also raise some real cash money for people who really need it. I was already stoked to make a song with such awesome musicians, and now we know we made a real difference. How good’s music?!”.

Everyone (except iTunes) involved with the song donated their services for the project. iTunes pocketed a not too shabby $5,784 as the gateway for people to buy the song.
