Bliss N Eso join Noise11 for a conversation ahead of their Twilight at Taronga show in Sydney on 6 March 2026. In this interview, Paul Cashmere chats with Bliss and Eso about their 25-year journey together, the creative process behind their two-part Two Moons albums, and what it means to sustain such a long-lasting friendship.
They reflect on the making of their Sun album in 2021 – shaped by the pandemic and themes of resilience – and explain how their label suggested splitting the Moon record into Light and Dark sides, giving them the freedom to stretch their campaign across a full year. Bliss and Macka also dive into some of their proudest collaborations, including working with Casey Chambers on “Good People,” and navigating the emotional weight of reimagining Grinspoon’s classic “Chemical Heart” using found multitracks.
They also discuss their bold decision to sample Crazy Town’s “Butterfly” (originally built around a Red Hot Chili Peppers loop), featuring their friend Ekko on the track, and how they bring it all to life on stage. Touring is clearly at the heart of what they do – and they unpack their 2025 Party on the Moon tour, revealing how the 2026 Twilight at Taronga gig will be a thematic extension into the “dark side” of their moon-based concept.
Paul and the duo talk about how they curate their setlists in light of their enormous catalog: they poll fans, use medleys, and even spin a metaphorical “Wheel of Tunes” to surprise long-time believers. And they close with the story of Moments, featuring Gavin James – a song that nearly didn’t exist because of his initial reluctance, but now remains a fan favourite.
Tune in to hear the full story behind the music, the friendship, and what’s coming next under the stars at Twilight at Taronga.
