With a career that kicked off in the 70s working with acclaimed songwriting/production team Vanda and Young, iconic record producer Mark Opitz has certainly made his mark on Australian music.

Having put his name to countless records from artists including Cold Chisel, INXS, The Angels, The Divinyls and more, Opitz isn’t content to rest on his laurels. Still consistently working with young acts, his enthusiasm for music hasn’t ever waned, as is evident in this two-part interview.

Shortly before talking on a panel at the music industry conference Face the Music, he caught up with Noise 11’s Tim Cashmere to have a chat about how the music industry has changed, the role of a producer, fusing different cultures together in music, The Angels, Vanda and Young, how he chooses engineers to work with him and a whole lot more.
