Columbia Records has released a highlights album from last week’s 121212 concert for relief of victims of Hurricane Sandy.

The night was amazing with performances by Bruce Springsteen, Roger Waters, Billy Joel, Paul McCartney, the Who, Eric Clapton, the Rolling Stones, Bon Jovi and many more. This release captures 24 of the over 50 performances on the night. While this is a great highlights disc, it would be great to see the whole concert made available at some time.

Of particular disappointment (and it may be a rights/contractual issues) is that only one of Paul McCartney’s songs made the cut, Helter Skelter. His collaboration with the living members of Nirvana and performances of My Love and Live and Left Die were left out. Also missing are the two Bruce Springsteen/Jon Bon Jovi duets on Born to Run and Who Says You Can’t Go Home.

The Robin Hood Relief Fund will receive a minimum of $6.50 from each sale of the album. A physical version is scheduled for January 22.
