The Chainsmokers featuring Halsey track ‘Closer’ has spent a comfortable week again at the top of the Australian singles chart blocking two songs featuring Justin Bieber from overtaking it.
Bieber features in DJ Snake’s ‘Let Me Love You’ and Major Lazer’s ‘Cold Water’ but The Chainsmokers was well ahead on download sales for all seven days of the past week.
The Betty Who track ‘I Love You Always Forever’ had the most momentum of the top 10 as predicted last week with its strong position on the Shazam chart, the true indicator of where downloads and streams are heading.
Australia’s Illy is also now making head waves with his track ‘Papercuts’ after the cut was picked up in influential US playlists and given additional streaming points on the more conventional ARIA Singles Chart. The addition of the streaming points is boosting ‘Papercuts’ higher on the general chart and having a flow-on effect for Illy download sales.
Illy is the only Australian act with a Top 10 song this week in Australia. The City of Frankston should prepare a day in his honour.
