Amanda Pelman joins Paul Cashmere at Noise11 to discuss her memoir Four Weddings And An Encore, a candid, often hilarious and deeply personal account of life across four marriages and a remarkable career in music.
In this in-depth conversation, Amanda reflects on growing up as the daughter of Melbourne fashion icon Elvie Hill, her early obsession with David Cassidy, and her first life-changing encounter with Billy Thorpe via the Live At Sunbury album. She recounts her years at Mushroom Records under Michael Gudinski, backing Kylie when others hesitated, and launching Melodian Records with Molly Meldrum.
Amanda also shares behind-the-scenes stories from major Australian music moments including Long Way To The Top and Sound Relief, where she witnessed a young Taylor Swift command an Australian stage long before global superstardom.
From working with Joe Cocker and Michael Lang of Woodstock fame, to pursuing the legendary Château d’Hérouville recording studio in France, ground-zero for the recording of Elton John’s Honky Château, Amanda’s story is one of instinct, resilience and reinvention.
Four Weddings And An Encore is part family memoir and part music industry history, proof that sometimes life really does offer an encore.
Amanda will launch Four Weddings and an Encore at The Avenue Bookstore in Albert Park, Melbourne at 6.00pm 19 February 2026.
