Janet Jackson has shared a heartfelt letter she wrote to late star Aaliyah.

This week marked the 14th anniversary of Aaliyah’s death. She passed away at the age of 22 in a plane crash.

Janet took time out of her day to remember the fallen star.

“What I shared with u [is] ever sacred, everlasting [and] it’s pure and it will endure. I love u Aaliyah. #RIP (sic),” Janet wrote on a piece of paper.

She uploaded a snap of the note to Twitter with the caption: “I know u r there shining down on me. #ConversationsInACafe (sic).”

E! Online also marked the anniversary yesterday, by sharing an interview she’d done with the outlet in 2001.

Aaliyah was behind hits such as Try Again and Rock the Boat, and was also a successful actress with stints in films like Romeo Must Die and Queen of the Damned.

“I don’t really know that much about it. They’re being very secretive, which I totally understand,” Aaliyah explained to E! News about her Queen of the Damned character before filming began. “I know her name is Zee. She’s a tough girl, but I can’t really go into the details, you know, it’s a top-secret type thing. So I have to wait and be patient and see.”

“I was very blessed to meet Lorenzo di Bonaventura at Warner Brothers and become a Warner’s baby. I’m very thankful to him for giving me the chance to do what I did in Romeo [Must Die] and to Joel Silver as well. They saw something in me and decided to go with me, and they’ve been supporting me ever since.”

Missy Elliott also paid tribute, retweeting a post from The Fader titled RIP Baby Girl and sharing a piece she previously wrote, calling Aaliyah an angel.
