Beloved balladeer Missy Higgins joins Gotye on stage, delivers a new clip, and announces her first national tour in five years.
Higgins spent the last few years working to break America, then decided to quit the music business. But she stepped back into the studio last year to begin work on her new album The Ol’ Razzle Dazzle.
It’s hard to imagine that this is only her third album, after the monumental success of her debut The Sound Of White and On A Clear Night.
Yet she’s back in full force. For starters, Higgins joined Gotye onstage in San Francisco to sing ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’ on the day it topped the US charts, and again in Los Angeles, while Kimbra promotes her album in Europe.
“I was so nervous to have to sing that song,” Missy said in a press release. “It was fun though and a real honour. I was already really excited to be playing some new songs for the first time at that show so getting to sing with Wally on that day of all days made a good night even better.”
And today she releases her latest single, ‘Unashamed Desire’, with a video from Natasha Pincus, who shot Gotye’s now-famous clip.
Into the bargain, she announces her first tour in years, leading up to her homecoming show at Splendour In The Grass. Tickets go on sale from April 30 for her fan database and May 2 for the general public, and she’ll be supported by friend and co-producer of her album Butterfly Boucher.
The Ol’ Razzle Dazzle is slated for release on June 1. Check out the ‘Unashamed Desire’ clip below the tourdates. And while we’re at it, check out our chat with Butterfly Boucher below that, with an acoustic track at the end.
