‘A Night At The Opera’, a fundraiser for YMCA NSW, will return to the State Theatre this November.

The charity event features 18 artists performing 20 songs from movies or musicals like Tommy, Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita, The Wall, Jersey Boys, Rocky Horror Show, Rock of Ages, Strictly Ballroom, Godspell and We Will Rock You.

The line-up for the show includes Glenn Shorrock, Bobby Fox (Jersey Boys), Ciaran Gribbin (INXS), Emma Pask, Jack Vidgen, Jeff Duff and Steve Balbi of Noiseworks.

YWCA NSW CEO, Anna Bligh, said today “This year is no exception – we’re putting the “fun” into fundraising. We have some great acts lined up – so come along, dance and sing and raise money for our many important programs – it’s a night you won’t want to miss.”

For fans of Queen, John Deacon has long been the enigma of the band, a brilliant musician, masterful songwriter, and humble presence behind the scenes. Since the early 1990s, Deacon has shunned the spotlight, retiring quietly after Freddie Mercury’s death in 1991. But now, years later, he has quietly resurfaced, lending his signature alongside bandmates Roger Taylor and Brian May on a charity auction item, signalling, perhaps, that even the most private of souls can still make their mark in unexpected ways.
