“The consolidation of all our music labels with Universal makes perfect sense,” said Head of ABC Music, Robert Patterson. “Like Universal, ABC Music is at the forefront of innovation in the music industry, and as the business continues to rapidly evolve, this solid partnership will see us capitalise on the great depth of the ABC Music catalogue and our unique and diverse roster of artists.”

The deal brings The Wiggles, Justin Clarke and Bananas In Pyjamas into the Universal fold.

“It is especially pleasing to welcome the ABC Kids label to Universal,” says Universal Music Australasia President George Ash. With an exceptional array of artists and brands including The Wiggles, Justine Clarke, Jay Laga’aia, Playschool, Bananas in Pyjamas and Giggle & Hoot, we look forward to the many opportunities that this partnership will provide. The ABC is without doubt the leading independent label in Australia with success across many genres and artists. We are all thrilled to be working towards a fantastic new future with the ABC.”

The new deal took effect on July 1.
