Morrissey fans site true-to-you.net is reporting that two previously unreleased versions of Smiths tracks will be released soon as a 7 inch vinyl but details have been sketchy.

According to true-to-you.net, “Warner UK will release a previously unissued version of The Boy With The Thorn In His Side as a physical 45. The sleeve, above, is by Morrissey, with layout by Darren Evans at Warner UK. The B-side is a previously unissued version of Rubber Ring”.

While Morrissey fans are quick to grab any bone they are tossed from The Smiths, it uncertain at this time if the songs are previously unreleased or they are just pressing up the old 12” version from 1985 onto a 7 inch disc.

‘The Boy With The Thorn In His Side’ was originally released as a 7 inch vinyl single in 1985 with ‘Asleep’ on the b-side.

However there was also a 12 inch vinyl with ‘Rubber Ring/Asleep’ on the b-side (seguing the two tracks into one) as well as a CD single with ‘Rubber Ring’ and ‘Asleep’ included as b-sides.

‘The Boy With The Thorn In His Side’ was originally featured on the third Smiths album ‘The Queen Is Dead’, released in 1986.

‘Rubber Ring’ was released on the 12” single and CD single as well as the rarities album ‘The World Won’t Listen’ and the American compilation ‘Louder Than Bombs’, both in 1987.

It then popped up again on ‘Best…I’ in 1992.
