Blind Melon To Play First Ever Australian Dates

by Paul Cashmere on July 27, 2015

in Live,News

90s LA band Blind Melon will play their first ever Australian shows in October.

Blind Melon rose to fame off their debut self-titled album and the hit song ‘No Rain’, a top 10 hit in Australia in 1993. The band toured the USA with Neil Young and Lenny Kravitz, scored an opening slot on The Rolling Stones ‘Voodoo Lounge’ tour and played Woodstock ’94.

Then tragedy struck. On October 21, 1995, singer Shannon Hoon was found dead on a tour bus in New Orleans. He suffered a heart attack as the result of a cocaine overdose.

10 years later, the surviving members of the band Roger Stevens, Brad Smith, Christopher Thorn and Glen Graham reformed with new singer Travis Warren from the band Rain Fur Rent. Blind Melon reactivated for two years and then took another break before reforming again in 2010.

Blind Melon dates

October 21, Brisbane, Wooly Mammoth
October 23, Sydney, Max Watts
October 25, Melbourne, Max Watts
