Live, Stone Temple Pilots and 4 Non Blondes will headline the 2027 Lookout Australian tour, with Magic Dirt joining the 10-date national run.

Live, Stone Temple Pilots and 4 Non Blondes will headline Lookout 2027, bringing three significant names from the alternative rock era together for a 10-date Australian tour in March. The tour will begin at Adelaide Entertainment Centre on March 6 and conclude at Brisbane Entertainment Centre on March 24, with dates scheduled across South Australia, Victoria, the ACT, New South Wales and Queensland. Australian rock band Magic Dirt will provide local support.
The announcement places three acts whose commercial breakthroughs came at different points in the early 1990s on the same bill. Live established itself internationally with albums including Throwing Copper and Secret Samadhi, Stone Temple Pilots broke through with Core and a run of major rock singles, while 4 Non Blondes made a lasting impact with their sole studio album, Bigger, Better, Faster, More!, and its global hit “What’s Up?”. For Australian audiences, the tour also marks Live’s first Australian visit in more than 25 years, according to the announcement.
Live formed in York, Pennsylvania, in the 1980s and became one of the defining American alternative rock bands of the 1990s. Their 1994 album Throwing Copper became their commercial breakthrough, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and eventually selling more than 10 million copies in the United States. Songs including “Lightning Crashes”, “I Alone” and “All Over You” became enduring rock radio staples. The band followed with Secret Samadhi in 1997, another Billboard 200 No. 1, before The Distance To Here expanded their international audience in 1999. The band celebrated the 25th anniversary of Throwing Copper with a deluxe edition and international touring in 2019.
Stone Temple Pilots emerged from San Diego and released their debut album Core in 1992. The record reached No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and established the band through “Sex Type Thing”, “Wicked Garden” and “Plush”, which won the Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance. The DeLeo brothers, guitarist Dean and bassist Robert, drummer Eric Kretz and vocalist Scott Weiland formed the core of the band’s most commercially successful period. Further albums including Purple, Tiny Music… Songs From The Vatican Gift Shop and No. 4 expanded their musical range. Following Weiland’s death in 2015, Jeff Gutt became the band’s lead singer. Stone Temple Pilots released Perdida in 2020.
4 Non Blondes came out of San Francisco in the late 1980s with Linda Perry as lead vocalist and guitarist, Christa Hillhouse on bass, Shaunna Hall on guitar and Wanda Day on drums. After personnel changes, the group released Bigger, Better, Faster, More! in 1992. “What’s Up?” became the band’s defining international success, while songs including “Dear Mr. President” and “Spaceman” further established the group. Perry left 4 Non Blondes in 1994 and subsequently developed a substantial career as a songwriter and producer, working with artists including P!nk, Christina Aguilera, Alicia Keys, Britney Spears, Adele and Miley Cyrus. Her work has also extended into film and documentary scoring.
The Lookout bill therefore brings together catalogues that helped shape alternative and mainstream rock during a period when guitar-driven music was moving rapidly from specialist radio into the centre of popular culture. Live’s album sales and chart performance, Stone Temple Pilots’ long-running catalogue and the enduring recognition of “What’s Up?” represent three different pathways to longevity from the same broad musical era.
Magic Dirt’s inclusion gives the Australian dates a local connection. Formed in Geelong in the late 1980s, the band became one of Australia’s most recognised alternative rock acts, building a catalogue that includes “Dirty Jeans”, “Plastic Loveless Letter” and “Pace It”. Their appearance places an established Australian band alongside three American acts whose music was closely associated with the international alternative rock audience of the 1990s.
The Lookout 2027 tour will cover 10 performances across Australia, including arena, entertainment centre, racecourse and outdoor venues. Telstra Plus members will have access to a pre-sale from 1pm on Monday, August 31, with artist and Face To Face pre-sales following before the general public on-sale begins at 1pm on Wednesday, September 2.
