Bruce Springsteen’s show in Auckland, New Zealand tonight may just very well be the scene of a System of a Down appearance for Serj Tankian. Tankian is also in Auckland and he has been hanging out with Tom Morello.

Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello is a current member of Bruce’s E Street Band and tweeted a photo of Serg and himself catching a few rays on a New Zealand beach yesterday. ‘Surf’s up! Spectacular day with my great friend, comrade in arms & beach bro Serj Tankian in gorgeous New Zealand”.

Springsteen’s re-recorded his 1995 song ‘The Ghost of Tom Joad’ with Tom Morello for his recent ‘High Hopes’ album. Rage Against The Machine covered the song on their 2000 album ‘Renegades’. ‘The Ghost Of Tom Joad’ has been an essential part of the Australian setlist and will no doubt be played in Auckland again this weekend. Will Serj join Tom, Bruce and the E Street Band for the song or will Bruce have a different song in mind for Serj Tankian if he appears.

In Australia, Eddie Vedder popped up at the Melbourne and Brisbane shows.

Jimmy Barnes is the special guest of Bruce Springsteen for these last two southern hemisphere shows.

Bruce Springsteen will perform tonight and tomorrow (March 1 and 2) at Mt Smart Stadium in Auckland, New Zealand.

Bruce Springsteen Marks 30 Years Of The Ghost Of Tom Joad

It has now been 30 years since Bruce Springsteen released The Ghost Of Tom Joad, a stark and deeply human record that shifted him away from stadium anthems and back into the quiet, shadowy corners of American storytelling. Released on 21 November 1995, the album arrived at a moment when Springsteen had just reunited in the studio with The E Street Band for part of his Greatest Hits collection, yet he chose to follow that reunion not with bombast, but with one of the most intimate projects of his career.
