The trailer for ‘CBGB’, the major motion picture after the iconic New York venue that gave birth to New Wave, went live today.

‘CBGB’ stood for ‘Country Bluegrass Blues’. That was surprise number one. The other is the calibre of the all-star cast.

Alan Rickman plays founder Hilly Kristal and the movie also features a bearded Johnny Galecki (Leonard from the Big Bang Theory), Ashley Greene (Alice from the Twilight movies) and Taylor Hawkins from Foo Fighters as Iggy Pop.

The movie was directed and produced by Randall Miller. CBGB takes you through the history of the venue where Talking Heads, Blondie, The Stooges, Patti Smith Group, The Ramones and The Dead Boys.

CBGB opened in 1973 and closed in 2006 over a rent dispute.

The soundtrack features The Ramones, Blondie, Talking Heads, MC5, The Dead Boys and others.

The movie will open in US cinemas on October 11.
