Comedy legend Jonathan Winters has passed away in his home in Montecito, California at age 87.

Winters official website confirmed the comedian died at 6:45pm on April 11 surrounded by family and friends.

Jonathan Winters recorded more than 20 comedy albums during his career. He recorded his first album ‘Down To Earth’ for Verve Records in 1960.

Winters appeared in almost 50 movies. His final movie is the upcoming ‘The Smurfs 2’. Winters is the voice of Papa Smurf, Katy Perry is a Smurfette.

Jonathan Winters started his career in radio in the early 50s on WING Dayton, Ohio. He was a regular on the Jack Parr show and then the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. He appeared in an episode of ‘The Twilight Zone’ and in the movie ‘It’s A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World’.

In the final season of Mork & Mindy, Winters played Mork’s son Mearth.

Jonathan Winters was married for 60 years to wife Eileen. She died in 2009.
