People who went to the Conejo Valley Days in Thousand Oaks, CA on Saturday to see Foo Fighters’ drummer Taylor Hawkins and his side project, Chevy Metal, received a special surprise.

Chevy Metal was joined by Dave Grohl and Chris Shiflett for what turned into a nineteen song Foo Fighters covers set. Before the evening was over, they were treated to four Van Halen songs, three from the Rolling Stones and a smattering from artists ranging from Billy Joel to the Vapors.

Grohl put everything in perspective during the set by saying “I’m just a rhythm guitar player in this band, but Taylor makes me sing once in a while.”

The set list:
Stay With Me (Faces cover)
Jet Airliner (Steve Miller Band cover)
School’s Out (Alice Cooper cover)
Little T&A (The Rolling Stones cover)
Everybody Wants Some!! (Van Halen cover)
Panama (Van Halen cover)
Turning Japanese (The Vapors cover)
Summer of ’69 (Bryan Adams cover)
Bitch (The Rolling Stones cover)
Under Pressure (Queen & David Bowie cover)
Let’s Go (The Cars cover)
I’m the One (Van Halen cover)
Show Your Love (Van Halen cover)
You May Be Right (Billy Joel cover)
Hurts So Good (John Mellencamp cover)
Miss You (The Rolling Stones cover)
My Sharona (The Knack cover)
Let There Be Rock (AC/DC cover)
