A couple of weeks back cult legends Godspeed You! Black Emperor announced their first ever Australian tour alongside their appearance at the Drones-curated ATP Festival next February.

Better yet, for the mad fans, the instrumental collective are putting out a new album, their first since 2002’s Yanqui U.X.O. Much like the release of that one, with little warning or promotion, the new album Allelujah! Don’t Bend! Ascend! will arrive in two weeks.

A press release explains, “They seek to preserve the thrill of anonymous and uncalculated transmission, knowing full well that these days, anti-strategy risks being tagged as a strategy, non-marketing framed as its opposite, and deeply held principles they consider fundamental to health as likely to be interpreted as just another form of stealth.”

Like earlier albums, A!DB!A will feature two “sides” book-ended by two drones. It’ll be released through Constellation via Inertia in Australia on October 16.
