Ian Molly Meldrum has opened his eyes for the first time since falling off a ladder at his Melbourne home last Thursday.

65-year old Meldrum has been in an induced coma ever since the accident and yesterday doctors reduced his medication to start bringing him out of the coma.

A few moments ago (After 7am) Molly opened his eyes but was still very hazy.

Doctors will now be able to do further tests on the music guru and plan the various operations needed following the fall.

Meldrum has a cracked skull, broken shoulder, broken ribs and punctured lung. He is still critical and expected to be in hospital for some time.
