Van Halen did it in 2006 when they replaced original bassist Michael Anthony with Eddie Van Halen’s son Wolfgang. Now, things seem to be going in the same direction for Cheap Trick’s drummer Bun E. Carlos as Rick Nielsen’s son Daxx has been sitting behind the kit on tour and a new recording.

According to Billboard, Carlos was not asked to play on a holiday song for the newest edition of the A Very Special Christmas series and he has been on “hiatus” for a couple of years as far touring.

Carlos told the magazine “I’m a full member of Cheap Trick in all respects. Solely as an accommodation to some of the band members, I reluctantly agreed to take a temporary hiatus from touring. The other members have never seriously talked to me about my leaving the band permanently.”
