Dave Davies has busted the myth that Jimmy Page invented the distorted guitar sound on The Kinks classic ‘You Really Got Me’.
Kinks founder Davies confirms that Page did not play on the song. The guitar solo was played by Dave.
Dave had to once again reclaim his legacy after the BBC ran a new documentary falsely crediting Page with the sound.

He isn’t get an argument from Jimmy Page. Page denied the stories he played on the song s far back as 1970 in a Sound On Sound interview when he said, “I didn’t play on ‘You Really Got Me’ and that’s what pisses him (Ray Davies) off.”
Kinks producer Shel Talmy has also confirmed, “I mean, Jimmy Page did not play the solo on “You Really Got Me” which I’ve said about 5,000 times to people who insist that he did”.
