With the likes of AJ Maddah, Kimbra, Dom Alessio, Clare Bowditch, Chet Faker, Johann Ponniah, Weddings Parties Anything, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard and key note speaker Martin Atkins gracing the stages of Face The Music it is not surprising that Melbourne’s premier music conference is now completely sold out, with over 800 delegates in attendance.
US label owner, entrepreneur and author Martin Atkins kicked off to a full house with a unique and hilarious address, referencing his latest book ‘Welcome to the Music Business’.
Self confessed Twitter addict, Soundwave and Harvest festival boss AJ Maddah spoke of his quest for the “perfect festival”, his control freak nature and hands on approach to cherry picking each and every act on the bill.
Songstress Kimbra enlightened guests on her approach to song writing leading into her next album. Likening collaborations with awkward first dates, preferring to meet and get to know one another before heading into the studio for an intimate song writing session. Kimbra also hinted to a potential collaboration with Mike Patton.
In a new development this year for Face The Music, registrants participated in 250 speed meetings in a meet the industry session akin to speed dating. Giving participants the opportunity to meet with industry, media and music lawyers; pitching their music to key industry players and seeking free legal advice.
Face The Music Manager, Peter Chellew said “We are thrilled to have a diverse group of delegates come together from so many music genres. We would like to thank the 150 music industry folk who have given their time to help the creative and professional development of our thriving music community”.
