Converge will play Jane Doe in its entirety as a festival exclusive at Lucidity, a new one-day heavy music event limited to 2000 tickets at Melbourne Pavilion on Saturday 13 March 2027.

The Massachusetts band last visited Australia in 2019. Jane Doe, released in September 2001, remains their most acclaimed work. It was the first Converge album to feature bassist Nate Newton and drummer Ben Koller, and the last with guitarist Aaron Dalbec.

Critics praised its poetic lyrics, dynamic range, ferocity and production. The record developed a strong cult following, with its distinctive cover art becoming a lasting visual symbol for the band and the broader metallic hardcore scene. Opening track Concubine later ranked at number 78 on the 100 Greatest Heavy Metal Songs of All Time. Converge have performed the album in full only twice before, at Roadburn in 2016 and Decibel Metal & Beer Fest in 2021.

Belgian outfit Oathbreaker will make their first trip to the southern hemisphere for a festival exclusive set marking ten years of their 2016 album Rheia. The record expanded the band’s sound into post-black metal, blackgaze and post-metal territory and earned strong critical attention. Oathbreaker announced a hiatus in late 2017 after intensive touring, with members focusing on other projects including Wiegedood. The band reunited in 2025, beginning with a full Rheia performance at Roadburn in 2026, followed by further anniversary shows and a remastered edition of the album.

Australian powerviolence band Extortion, from Perth, will bring their high-intensity set. The group has channelled recent energy into work on a third full-length album, their first in more than a decade. Texan trio Portrayal of Guilt will close out their first Australian tour at Lucidity while supporting their 2026 release …Beginning of The End. The Austin band has built a reputation for shifting between screamo, blackened hardcore, sludge and industrial elements across successive records.

Melbourne’s The Broderick will reunite for a festival exclusive set celebrating 15 years of their 2012 debut Free To Rot, Free of Sin. The progressive hardcore band disbanded in 2013 shortly after the album’s release and a short run of international shows. Belgian black metal trio Wiegedood, who share members with Oathbreaker and form part of the Church of Ra collective, return to Australia for the first time since the Direct Underground Festival in 2018. Their set is also a festival exclusive.

Local support comes from Ends in Tragedy, Blind Girls, Isua and Melting, representing a cross-section of current Australian metal and hardcore.

Lucidity takes place at Melbourne Pavilion, a heritage-listed building constructed in 1945 as a wartime factory and later converted into a multi-purpose arts and entertainment venue. Beyond the performances, the event will include a Homewrecker Records pop-up store designed and built by visual artist Callum Preston, live artist Q&As hosted by the Oblivious Maximus podcast, market stalls and food trucks.

Destroy All Lines presents Lucidity 2027. Pre-sale tickets go on sale Monday 19 October at 9am AEDT for those who register at lucidityfest.com.au. General tickets follow on Wednesday 21 October at 9am AEDT, available from the same site. Capacity is capped at 2000.
