One Direction have announced the release of a new single called Best Song Ever.
The optimistically titled song is the first track taken from their long awaited third album.
The British boy band revealed the news via a video message to fans.
“Hi guys, it’s us again,’ Niall Horan says in the video. ‘We’ve got a little secret we’ve been keeping and we want you to know about it.”
Harry Styles then goes on to reveal the name of the new song. He also informs fans that the tune will appear in their new One Direction 3D concert film This Is Us, which will be released in August.
Apparently the boys put in a lot of effort to ensure Best Song Ever is in fact just that.
“We’ve worked really hard on it and we hope you enjoy it,’ Zayn Malik adds.
The announcement left the five-piece ensemble excited by their news.
“Wohooooooo! Love this day already,’ Niall tweeted, later adding: “Yes! #bestsongever is trending! This is exciting!”
A snippet of the new song was available for fans to watch on the trailer for This Is Us, which was also released on Tuesday.
One Direction are currently on a worldwide tour to promote their second album Take Me Home.
Best Song Ever will be available for most fans to pre-order from midnight on Tuesday, with it being officially released on July 22.
