The COPD Foundation will present “A Tribute to Phil Everly” on Wednesday, October 29 at the home of Syliva Roberts in Nashville, TN. Performing an acoustic set will be 12-time Grammy winner Paul Simon.

Simon has been a long-time fan of Phil and his brother Don since his early days in music. Paul has performed Everly Brothers songs in concert and recorded their hit Bye Bye Love on the Simon & Garfunkel album Bridge Over Troubled Waters.

Simon said in a statement on Phil Everly “I wish I’d have met him earlier. He was such a good friend.”

Phil Everly died last year from COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) which is characterized by chronically poor airflow to the lungs.

His wife, Patti Everly, said “In addition to being a gifted singer, musician and songwriter, Phil was also an amazing husband, dedicated father, grandfather and uncle. COPD took Phil too early. Phil’s music changed our world, and now it’s time to get behind the COPD Foundation and change the world again where no one has to live with COPD. I am grateful for the support of Paul Simon in helping to raise awareness about this devastating disease and to be a part of this special evening with proceeds going towards the COPD Foundation.”
