Phil Collins To Release 3 Disc Set Of All His Solo Singles

Phil Collins has spent much of the year repackaging his solo albums in new deluxe editions and, on October 14, he will release a brand new three-CD retrospective collecting almost every one of his singles from 1981 to 2010.

Appropriately titled The Singles, the set has forty-five tracks, presented in chronological order from his solo debut, In the Air Tonight to Going Back, the last single from his final album of the same name.

Not everything here was a hit. You sometimes can’t separate the Collins solo hits from those he had with Genesis during the 80’s as it seems every fifth song on the radio was by one or the other, but twenty of the forty-five never charted in the U.S. and only fourteen made it to the U.S. top ten. Half of those fourteen went to number 1.

There is only one track that keeps this from being a complete collection. While Collins released forty five singles and there are forty five tracks, the album includes the 2003 double sided The Least You Can Do/Wake Up Call from Testify but leaves off the previous single, Come With Me. Still, just a slight oversight in an otherwise complete set.

Of note are the numerous songs that were not on any of Collins’ solo albums that were originally released on the soundtracks for Against All Odds, White Nights, Buster, Tarzan and Brother Bear plus Easy Lover that originally came from Philip Bailey’s Chinese Wall.

The Singles will also be released in a two-CD set with 33 tracks and a four-LP vinyl version along with digital.

The track list with original album and U.S. and U.K. chart information for the 3-CD set:
