Poco To Reform For Induction

Timothy B. Schmit will rejoin his former bandmates in Poco for one night, on January 9, for induction into the Colorado Music Hall of Fame.

Schmit was not an original member of the band. He joined in 1969, a year after the formation of the band, when original bassist Randy Meisner left to form the Eagles. When he joined, Poco was in the classic lineup of Richie Furray, Jim Messina, Rusty Young, George Grantham and Schmit. During his tenure with the band, they released nine studio albums including Poco, A Good Feelin’ to Know, Crazy Eyes and Head Over Heels.

Ironically, Schmit left Poco in 1977 for the Eagles, once again replacing Meisner.

Chuck Morris, chairman of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame, said “Timothy has been a gracious artist over the decades and I’m thrilled that he will be part of our program to help make history in front of Colorado music fans.”

Also being inducted are Stephen Stills and Manassas, Firefall and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.

This is the fourth induction ceremony for the relatively new organization. Previous inductees:

2011
John Denver
Red Rocks Amphitheatre

2012
The Astronauts
Sugarloaf
Flash Cadillac
KIMN Radio
Barry Fey
Harry Tuft

2013
Judy Collins
