Ross Wilson To Sing For Skyhooks In Melbourne Tonight

Ross Wilson will take up lead singer duties when Skyhooks reforms for Rockwiz Live in Melbourne tonight.

The surviving members of the original line-up, Bob ‘Bongo’ Starkie, Red Symons, Greg Macainish and Freddie Strauks, will reform for a one-off appearance at Rockwiz Live at the Palais Theatre in St Kilda.

Lead singer Graeme ‘Shirley’ Strachan died in a helicopter crash on 29 August 2001. He was 49. Soon after the band gathered for a memorial service, at the Palais, with Ross Wilson and Daryl Braithwaite singing the vocals.

Wilson is an obvious choice for the reunion show. He was the producer of the first three Skyhooks albums.

There has been recent activity in the Skyhooks camp. On October 30 Warner Music will release the 3 disc collection ‘Don’t You Believe What You’ve Seen Or You’ve Heard’, featuring expanded editions of the first two albums ‘Living In The 70s’ and ‘Ego Is Not A Dirty Word’ and a third disc with live Skyhooks tracks from 1974 and 1975.
