Steven Tyler Considers A Guardians of the Galaxy Role

Aerosmith rocker Steven Tyler may be offered a role in a third Guardians of the Galaxy movie by director James Gunn.

Earlier this month the Walk This Way singer, 68, issued a plea to James, the director of 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy and a follow-up due out next year (17), to cast him in any third film, telling People magazine he’d “do anything” to star in it.

Now the 46-year-old filmmaker, who recently wrapped filming on the Marvel franchise’s second installment, has responded positively to Steven’s request.

“I did hear that Steven Tyler wants to be in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’,” he said in a filmed Facebook question and answer session. “He gave me a shout-out the other day in an interview. He said, ‘James Gunn are you listening?’ The answer is: Steven, yes I am listening.”

The filmmaker went on to say that having directed Steven’s daughter Liv in the 2010 movie Super, he’d very much like to cast her father in one of his projects.

“I’m a big fan of Steven Tyler’s,” he added. “I had the pleasure of directing his daughter Liv in a movie in which she was fantastic, and I met him for a few seconds at a screening of that movie. He’s a cool guy. And of course, I would love to work with Steven Tyler sometime.”

Steven has a small role as an eccentric character who comes across American vacationers in Mexico in forthcoming horror flick Happy Birthday and told People he wanted his performance in the film to be more than an obvious rock star cameo.

“Obviously I understand that when you see a guy like me or Keith Richards in a movie (like) Pirates of the Caribbean, that some people might go, ‘Hey, isn’t that Steven Tyler?’ ” he explains. “But we worked on the character enough where I think it melds into the movie without sticking out too much.”

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is due out next year (17), with bosses at Marvel Studios yet to announce plans for a third movie.
