The Rolling Stones will release their expanded edition of the 1981 ‘Tattoo You’ album in October.
As a teaser the Stones have let go of one of the nine previously unreleased songs ‘Living In The Heart of Love’ for you to hear now.
‘Tattoo You’ was an interesting album in that it did not come from a recent session after the previous album ‘Emotional Rescue’. Instead, the Rolling Stones sourced unreleased songs from various album sessions from the previous decade for the ‘Tattoo You’ release. The songs on ‘Tattoo You’ and this new edition were recorded as far back as the ‘Goats Head Soup’ album in 1973. (‘Goats Head Soup’ was reissued as a deluxe box set in 2020.)
‘For Tattoo You,’ recalls Ron Wood, ‘we realised that there was a lot of great music that we had recorded in the past that had never been released, particularly from all the material we had amassed during the Some Girls and Emotional Rescue sessions’.
‘The music had to age like good wine,’ Keith adds.
The new edition of ‘Tattoo You’ will be released on 22 October 2021.
