Texan guitar legend Alejandro Escovedo will have the musical expertise of You Am I’s Tim Rogers on his upcoming Australian tour.

Tim will be the second guitar player for Alejanrdo on all headline shows (except the Caravan Club) but including at the Port Fairy Festival.

Grabbing the second guitar gig in the Alejandro band means Tim has some big shoes to fill. In the U.S., Alejandro Escovedo fan Bruce Springsteen makes a habit of joining him on stage whenever he is in town.

“He has been very nice to me and very kind and generous. He is sweet enough to get up on with him,” Alejandro Escovedo tells Noise11.com. “Management would tell me “you can call him but he’s probably going to stay in”. As soon as I called him he said ‘Yeah, man I’ll come right over” and he came right over. He couldn’t wait to play. He is one of those kind of guys”.

Alejandro Escovedo has also announced two extra shows for Sydney and Brisbane.

Alejandro Escovedo will tour Australia for David Roy Williams.

Sammy Hagar’s New Live Album Features Rai Thistlethwayte of Thirsty Merc

Sammy Hagar has always had a reputation for surrounding himself with powerhouse players, but his upcoming live album, Sammy Hagar & The Best Of All Worlds Band – The Residency (out October 10, 2025 via Big Machine Rock), brings a distinctly Australian twist. On keyboards, vocals and guitar is Rai Thistlethwayte, best known at home for fronting Thirsty Merc and more recently as a member of The Fabulous Caprettos. For Australian fans, the inclusion of Thistlethwayte in Hagar’s latest chapter is a striking reminder of how far the Sydney-born musician’s career has travelled.
