Tim has been spending a lot of his time in Los Angeles where he picked up a residency at the House of Blues and played gigs at The Whisky and The Hotel Café. He also visited Noise11.com and performed for the Sessions.

Last year Crooked Saint also released two E.P.’s and play around 25 shows in Sydney and the South Coast. “The relocation to Sydney was to try and get the lay of the land and figure it all out by actually ‘being’ there, to work myself into the framework and gain a knowledge of the nooks and crannies too”, Tim says. “The sort of thing you can often only do if you’re actually ‘on the ground’ somewhere. It’s exactly the same thing as what I’m doing in LA. You always hear it said that in order to really crack somewhere you have to actually be there y’know. And hey, at the end of the day I’m already doing what I love doing anyway so …”

Returning to Australia Tim got to work with Michael Badger on bass, Johnny Grant on guitar and Troy Ramaekers on drums. The band recorded ‘Hot & Heavy’ and ‘Outta Sight Outta Mind’ with Paul McKercher (Josh Pyke/Eskimo Joe).

“Paul has been on the top of my list for years,” Tim says. “When he expressed his interest in working on these songs I actually got a little nervous because it would be the first time the band had worked with someone outside our little circle. But he’s one of those guys that can really bring out the best in a band, not just because he knows all the tricks, which he does, but because for whatever reason, you find yourself wanting to play better for Paul.”

Have a listen to Hot & Heavy.
