Triple J Is Sydney’s No 1 Station During Work Hours

The ABC youth network has fired another bullet into Sydney radio listening habits with almost one-quarter of all people aged 18-24 years old now listening to the station.

Triple J has dominance for 18-24 year olds with 24.8% of the market followed by Nova with 16.7 and KIIS with 14.0.

Triple J is also the no 1 FM station (and no 2 overall for the 9am-4pm slot) Monday to Friday.

The results of the second radio survey for 2016 were disastrous for the once powerful Austereo flagship station 2DAY. 2DAYFM has dwindled to just 4.2% of the Sydney market and completely failed to score any traction with new Breakfast team fronted by high-profile personality Rove McManus. Rove’s breakfast show was unchanged with just 3% of the Sydney market.

In Melbourne Triple J had a negative survey shedding 8.7 points of its previously dominant 21.9 share of 18-24 year olds down to 13.2. Austereo’s Melbourne audience (unlike Sydney) was strong with a dominating 19.3% of 18-24 year old and at 2.3 point rise in the demographic at the expense of Triple J and KIIS.
