Al Strobel, who played Phillip Michael Gerard aka Mike the one-armed man, has suffered a heart attack in the early hours of Sunday 26 August after appearing at the Twin Peaks Conversation with the Stars show in Melbourne the night before.

Strobel was in the first seasons of Twin Peaks 25 years ago as well as Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me and the recent season of Twin Peaks.

Al has also been in the movies Shadow Play, Megaville and Ricochet River (starring Kate Hudson) and in the plays Romeo and Juliet, Oklahoma and Richard III.

A statement from promoter David Roy Williams reads:

In the early morning of August 26, following an appearance in Melbourne, as part of the TWIN PEAKS CONVERSATION WITH THE STARS Australian tour, AL STROBEL suffered a minor heart attack.

AL STROBEL is the actor who plays Phillip Gerard, onetime associate of BOB and now a resident of the Red Room. Al has appeared in every season on Twin Peaks, as well as Fire Walk With Me. Other film credits include Ricochet River and Child Of Darkness, Child Of Light.

Al was taken to a Melbourne hospital where a blood clot was removed and a stent inserted. Al is doing well and looks forward to getting back to meeting as many Twin Peaks fans again as soon as possible.

Sammy Hagar’s New Live Album Features Rai Thistlethwayte of Thirsty Merc

Sammy Hagar has always had a reputation for surrounding himself with powerhouse players, but his upcoming live album, Sammy Hagar & The Best Of All Worlds Band – The Residency (out October 10, 2025 via Big Machine Rock), brings a distinctly Australian twist. On keyboards, vocals and guitar is Rai Thistlethwayte, best known at home for fronting Thirsty Merc and more recently as a member of The Fabulous Caprettos. For Australian fans, the inclusion of Thistlethwayte in Hagar’s latest chapter is a striking reminder of how far the Sydney-born musician’s career has travelled.
